“Cataloging Serials” By Lynnette Fields

This is a full day SCCTP workshop which provides the basic principles of serials cataloging for original and copy cataloging. The course focuses on the elements contained in the CONSER standard record documentation, CONSER Editing Guide, and CONSER Cataloging Manual. This course is designed for those new to serials: beginning serials catalogers and technicians and monograph catalogers working with serials.

RDA: What’s New, What’s Ahead, What We Know So Far
Marjorie Bloss, RDA Project Manager and lecturer at Dominican University, will give an overview of FRBR and RDA and an introduction to the RDA Toolkit. Q&A to follow. Christopher Cronin, Director of Metadata & Cataloging Services at the University of Chicago Library, will discuss his library’s experiences as a test site for RDA. Q&A to follow.

Lori Murphy from DePaul University will be presenting on Dewey classification in the morning session.
