LACONI membership is open to all libraries. Membership dues are used to pay for informative programs that each section produces. Any member library is welcome to attend the programs, sending as many staff and board members as they wish. There is often a lunch following any section program which allows for the opportunity to meet and network with other librarians from other library systems.

Membership dues are $100 and cover the entire staff of a library. The dues are paid by the library each November and are good until the following October. Please send in the Membership Form with your payment to sign up.

Annual Salary Survey

The LACONI Salary Survey is an annual survey of public libraries in the Northern Illinois Area. The survey includes salaries for all staff members within individual libraries, in addition to budget and facility information. Every other year (including 2011), a library benefits section is included. The survey is now only available electronically through email in Excel or .pdf formats.

To order a copy of the survey, please print and mail in the order form.

Best of the Best

Every three years, the Outreach/ Promotion/ Programming Section presents an all-day Best of the Best showcase which feature samples of live performers by library presenters. The group also publishes the Best of the Best resource guide to programs for adults. The Best of the Best 2009 guide is available in CD format.

The next Best of the Best guide will be published in May 2012. The showcase is scheduled to be on May 18, 2012 at Morton Grove Library

Harvest of Resources Directory

The Harvest of Resources Directory of Performers is a valuable tool containing descriptions, costs, and contact information for hundreds of performers available for hire in the Northern Illinois area.

LIBRARIANS:

Check out our online version of the Harvest of Resources Directory. The new format allows users to leave comments about the performers, so take advantage of this option to communicate with other Librarians!

CPDU Credits

Here is the information on using CPDU credits for any LACONI programs.

The requirements are:
1) Attendees who take CPDU credits must sign in and print their name.
2) Attendees who take CPDU credits must fill out the state evaluation available at:http://www.isbe.net/certification/pdf/77-21A_evaluation.pdf
3) Attendees take evidence of completion form. It is found here:

4) We must keep a record of the attendees and their evaluations for
5 years in case the state comes calling.
5) Don’t forget to put that CPDU credits are available on the flyers!

When filling out the forms, there are a few pieces of information you need to know:
1) Provider number is: 10021594854634
2) Sign your name as the authorized provider.
3) CPDUs are given by the half-hour so a program from 9:30-3:00 would be 5.5 hours of credit. A program from 9:30-12 would be 2.5.
