Technology is moving librarians into new roles — some welcome, some uncomfortable, but nearly all of benefit to library patrons. New services will continue to develop even though libraries are challenged with meeting the increasing demand for service with limited staff and budget. How can we as Library Directors deal with the staffing changes and find the best way to keep our staff motivated, happy, and as part of our teams? Detective Alan Krok of the Chicago Police Department will discuss how to stay safe on the Internet. He will cover topics such as how to handle cyber-bullies and would-be sexual predators, and how much personal information it is safe to put out on the Internet. Sally Decker Smith has been at Indian Trails nearly 30 years, and in that time has pursued and shared many interests. She was a member of the Illinois Library Association Intellectual Freedom Committee when they decided to take Intellectual Freedom training statewide, and was in Anaheim last year when the Committee accepted the Intellectual Freedom Round Table/ProQuest State and Regional Intellectual Freedom Award.
